A virtual orientation session takes place from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Thursday, August 12, for those enrolling in the 36-week Judaism for conversion candidates course. The program is intended for those considering conversion to Judaism. Classes will take place virtually and some sessions may rotate among the synagogues later in the year.
KU Hillel is excited to announce the election of Lon J. Lowenstein as board president for the 2021-2023 term. Lowenstein and his wife, Suzy, are parents to three KU graduates and eagerly support KU Hillel’s mission of developing the next generation of Jewish leaders.

The White Theatre at The J - Jewish Community Center will present the 21st annual Kansas City Jewish Film Festival (KCJFF) in a hybrid format with both virtual and in-person options. Union Station officials July 21 announced another record relating to their award-winning touring exhibition offerings. Officials expected more than 150,000 tickets to the ‘Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far way.’ exhibition to be sold by July 24, only five weeks into the planned 27-week run.

Curbside kosher holiday meals to go will be available for purchase for Rosh Hashanah catered by Kim Matsil, Kim’s Creations (pick up Sunday afternoon, September 5) and Kol Nidre catered by Cathy Levin, Kosher Connection (pick up Wednesday, September 15). The next Shabbat meal to go will be offered on October 15 and catered by Steve Ellenberg, Ellenberg Experience Catering.
ROCKHOLD NAMED TO STATE COMMISSION
Jessica Rockhold, executive director of the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education, has been appointed to the Kansas Holocaust Commission by Governor Laura Kelly and serves as a co-chair of the commission.
In January 2020, KU Hillel had a full Birthright Israel trip of college students, all excited about having spent 10 days in Israel. They had no idea how fortunate the timing of their trip would turn out to be.
