More than 90 people from across the United States wore something red and viewed the Hadassah Greater Kansas City Fourth Annual Touch of Red Gala: Celebrate Life! event on Saturday, Nov. 20, via Zoom.

The Gala focused on organ donation and honored Hadassah annual givers who save and enhance lives through their gifts.

Among the presenters from Greater Kansas City were Rabbi Jonathan Rudnick, community chaplain; Martha Gershun, living kidney donor; Deb Porter Gill, formerly of Greater Kansas City, kidney recipient; and Dr. Ann Karty, who spoke about organ donation at Hadassah hospitals in Israel.

Also, a woman from Overland Park who wishes to remain anonymous, represented more than 100,000 people on the current transplant waiting list searching for a kidney donor in the US.

The Rabbinical Association of Greater Kansas City and Midwest Transplant Network were event partners.

Co-chairs were Marian Kaplan, immediate past president of Hadassah Greater Kansas City, and Rita Shapiro, past Great Plains Region and Greater Kansas City president.
