Lois and Les Zerman, formerly of Overland Park, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary a little early with their family on a cruise to the Bahamas. Their anniversary was Aug. 24.

The couple now live in The Villages, Fla.

Hannah and Abby are the daughters of Dr. Marjorie Beebe and the late Bradley Schifman. Grandparents are Robert and Madeline Schifman of Overland Park and David and the late Marie Beebe of Topeka.

Rabbi Yitzhak and Maayan Jaffe of Baltimore announce the birth July 8 of a daughter, Shai Hadar. They are also the parents of Shlomo Raphael, Netanya Temima and Devarya Tiferet. Grandparents are Sharon and Stuart Pase, Leawood, and Marion and Robert Jaffe, Staten Island, N.Y. Great-grandparents are Gertrude Epstein of Kansas City, Mo., and the late Samuel Epstein.

Dr. and Mrs. Jeffrey and Linda Schlachter of Leawood announce the engagement of their son, Andrew Schlachter, to Rachel Erwin, daughter of William and Sharon Erwin of Chicago.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Larry and Sally Siflinger and Frank and Carol Erwin. She attended Highland Park High School, St. Edward’s University and Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, earning her medical degree in podiatric medicine. She is currently employed as a podiatric resident at Weiss memorial Hospital in Chicago.

The future groom is the grandson of Irving and Vivien Schlachter and Florence and Bernard Mishkin. He attended Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, Indiana University and KU School of Medicine, earning his medical degree. He is currently employed in pulmonary/critical care medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

An Oct. 20 wedding at Sofitel Hotel in Chicago is planned.
