Marvin Gibian will observe and celebrate his 85th birthday at Congregation Beth Shalom on Shabbat Ha’Azinu, Sept. 29, and sponsor the Kiddush following services.

Celebrating with Marvin will be his wife Evelyn; children, Linda, Mark and Ellen, who lives in Jerusalem; grandchildren, Jacob, Esther, Levi and Angela; and great-grandson, Reuven.

Sharon and Scott Jerwick announce the engagement of their daughter, Andrea Jerwick, to Zachary Fargo, son of Ellen and Richard Fargo, Keller, Texas.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Eloyce and Morton Pepper of Englewood, Colo., and Marjorie and the late Maurice Jerwick, Overland Park. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology, and from Washburn University earned a degree as a registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer. She was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi. She currently is employed as a cardiac sonographer at St. Luke’s Hospital.

The future groom is the grandson of the late Albert and Grace Klein and the late Lynn and Elizabeth Fargo. He attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in cultural anthropology. He is currently employed as an account manager for Print Time.

A late May wedding is planned.

Grant Ellenberg is a freshman business major at the University of Arkansas. He was recently awarded the Balanced Man Scholarship from the Arkansas Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. This scholarship recognizes students whose academic performance, achievements and extracurricular activities are consistent with the fraternity ideals of developing a sound mind and body. Ellenberg was the top recipient and the scholarship was presented at a banquet at the Historic Inn at Carnall Hall on Aug. 19. Grant is the son of Steve and Denise Ellenberg and a recent graduate of Blue Valley North High School.
