He modeled what it meant “to bloom where you are planted.” His positive outlook on people and life was remarkable. Jack was often the sunshine in the room that brought people together.

Pola Greenwald, 89, died Sept. 16 from complications of multiple myeloma. Pola died at home in Leawood. Born Pola Gorsky to Zelda and Morris Gorsky on March 18, 1931, in San Francisco, she was raised in Petaluma, California, where she graduated from high school. She attended the University of California at Berkeley, where she met her future husband of 54 years, Gilbert S. Greenwald.

Dolores D. Wedlan

Dolores Dawn Wedlan, of Mission Hills, Kansas, peacefully passed away of natural causes on Sept. 16 at the age of 96. Dolores Oswald was born in the small town of New Ulm, Minnesota, in 1924, part of the third generation of immigrants from Scandinavia and Germany. Her mother, Mabel, and her father, Emanuel, adored their only child and raised her to be independent, resourceful and strong.

Betty Congour Caywood Bushman

Betty Congour Caywood Bushman was born in Chicago to Irene Wolf Congour and Vernon Price Congour on March 10, 1931. Vernon Congour was a Ward Boss for Mayor Edward J. Kelly, which led to a rocky marriage with Irene, so Irene, Betty and Betty’s younger brother, Stanley, spent a lot of time with family in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1944 Irene moved to Kansas City with the children permanently.
