Laurence M. Silver, aka Popeye, of Overland Park, KS was born on August 25, 1947 in Detroit, MI and passed away on July 11, 2021. He is preceded in death by Marshall Arthur Silver and Helen Jacobson Silver. He is survived by his wife, Janis Doreen Silver; his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and John Nathan; his son, Bradley L Silver; his daughter, Ashley Silver Fox and his step-daughter, Serena Pastena. He is also survived by six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please donate to Wayside Waifs in honor of Popeye’s love for all animals.

Michael Lee Katz passed away on August 8, 2021, at Promise Skilled Nursing Facility in Overland Park. Born in June 1946 in Arnes, Iowa, Michael’s parents moved up to Kansas City when he was a child, where he attended Paseo High School before earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Missouri.

Born February 15, 1922, Leonard Horwitz of Kansas City, Missouri, died August 1, 2021, after a brief and sudden illness, six months shy of his 100th birthday.

Jana Rae Bronfman, D.O., passed away on July 24, 2021, at Nicks Healthcare in Plattsburg, Missouri. She never recovered from Covid and was in a coma for several days. Jana was born on January 6, 1952, to David and Rosalie (Blender) Bronfman of Kansas City, Kansas. Jana graduated from Wyandotte High School and Baker University. She completed her medical training at the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1978.

David Glenn Nevels, 68, died July 9, 2021 at his daughter Cyndee Sole’s home in Grain Valley, Missouri.

Annette Modell Bloch of Kansas City, MO and Palm Springs, CA, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by the family she treasured on July 17, 2021.

Beverly L. Newman, 77, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away July 13, 2021 with her family by her side. Private family services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Beth Shalom Jacob H. Levine Development Fund.

Lynn Irwin Raskin passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 12, 2021, at age 85

Paula Burnstein, age 83, passed away on July 5, 2021, in Thousand Oaks, California.

She was born in Washington, D.C. and went to grade school in Brooklyn before moving to Kansas City with her parents, David and Rose Goodman.

Penny Babs Plotsky, 81, died from Alzheimer’s disease at Clover Care Residential Home, Shawnee, KS on July 3, 2021. Penny was born June 24, 1940, in Kansas City, MO.
