Marjorie P. Lipsky, 98, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at her daughter’s house in Overland Park, KS. It had been her home since last summer, giving her the opportunity to be surrounded by her family and able to visit with them every day, which was appropriate and natural as her family was the focus of her life, including her beloved husband, Gene, who passed away in 2012.
Marjorie was born in Kansas City, and grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, where she graduated from West High School. She returned to Kansas City as a young adult to be with family and friends.
Marjorie met and married Gene in 1948 in Kansas City, where they resided all their married years.
Throughout her years, she was active in various Jewish organizations, but most important to her was being a wife, mother, grandmother and matriarch of the family.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Anna and Edward Gross, and Elias Berell, and her husband Eugene Lipsky. She is survived by her brother Jenard and sister-in-law Gail Gross; children Jeffrey and Marcia Lipsky, and Jeniece Berman. Grandchildren: Bradley and Lauren Berman, Jaime Berman, and Adam Berman; Daniel and Lindsey Lipsky, Charlotte Lipsky, and Nathan Lipsky; five great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held graveside at 11:00 am, Friday, August 27, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
