Jewish Family Services is blessed to have dedicated and passionate volunteers. Among its volunteer heroes are Susan Kivett and her 18-year-old son, Gabe. A longtime JFS Food Pantry volunteer, Kivett and Gabe have both spent volunteer time with JFS’ various holiday projects including making Hanukkah Project deliveries.
Making Scouts History For her Eagle Scout project, Nina Baran gathered medical items and assembled 30 first aids kits, which she donation to Jewish Vocational Service. By Lacey StorerContributing Writer Nina Baran, a senior at Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, made history this year. Last month she became one of the first females in the country to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout in Scouts BSA (formerly Boys Scouts of America). Not only that, she reached this achievement – which some Scouts work towards throughout their grade school and high school years – in just 18 months.

Junior League puts on virtual cooking class for Jewish Family Services Food Pantry clients Members of the Kansas City Junior League handed off a bag of ingredients to a JFS client before last month’s virtual cooking class. Members of the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri, have embraced Jewish Family Services. Its members have helped with holiday projects as well as with JFS’ Food Pantry, which monthly serves more than 800 families.
