JFS is partnering with the Rabbinical Association of Greater Kansas City for the High Holiday food drive taking place from Sept. 23 through Oct. 18.

The pairing of apples and honey is a staple during Rosh Hashanah. It’s tradition to dip apples in honey to show our hopes for a sweet and fruitful New Year.

More than 20 members of the Kansas City area Jewish community traveled last week to Mexico City on a Jewish Federation mission, where they experienced the city’s vibrant Jewish community, touring its institutions, participating in Shabbat services and dinner, and visiting the Memory and Tolerance Museum. 

MeltonKC, a regional division of the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning, has released its fall and winter class schedule that includes a variety of class lengths, topics and teachers, both new and returning.

PJ Library, the flagship program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF), is celebrating the delivery of its 50-millionth free book to Jewish families this summer.

To help prepare for and celebrate the upcoming new year, The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah is offering two community-wide events: A scholar-in-residence weekend Sept. 16-17, featuring Dr. Alan Morinis of The Mussar Institute; and Shofar in the Park, a Rosh Hashanah afternoon event on Sept. 26. 

KU Hillel has hired three new additions to their team starting with the 2022 school year.

Because of donations made by the community, Jewish Family Services will provide 200 families with a Rosh Hashanah meal kit for the High Holidays.

Cara Parisi, a Bishop Miege High School graduate who had auditioned for the past two years, was chosen as the 2022 KC SuperStar and won the top $10,000 scholarship prize.
