Debbie Goodbinder will become president of Hadassah Greater Kansas City at the installation of the 2023 local Chapter Board on Monday, Feb. 27, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Zoom.
Hadassah Great Plains Region President Elaine Silver of Deerfield, Illinois, will serve as Installing Officer (Greater Kansas City is part of the Great Plains Region).
A second-generation Hadassah Life Member, Goodbinder is a past recipient of the Hadassah Leadership Award from the local Chapter. She has held numerous Hadassah leadership positions at the Region, Chapter and Group levels, most recently serving for the past two years as Team Leader of Hadassah Greater Kansas City. Currently, she is also co-chairing the Hadassah Midwest Geographic Area Conference representing the Great Plains, Greater Detroit, and Chicago-North Shore Regions of Hadassah.
Goodbinder has participated in several other Jewish and secular organizations in Greater Kansas City. She was named a Next Generation Leader by Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City. She also participated in Emerging Jewish Leaders, a leadership development program of Federation; and B’not Kehillah/B’not Kehillah L’atid, two leadership programs of the Women’s Division.
Goodbinder served on the Village Shalom Associate Board for many years, including as its president. During this time, she also directed the Beat the Heat 5k/10k Run/Walk for two years.
A lifelong member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue, she is a past member of its board.
For more than 10 years, Goodbinder volunteered for the Dictionary Project Kansas City where she delivered and presented dictionaries to third-graders in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Professionally, Debbie received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from the University of Kansas and currently works as an accounting manager at T-Mobile.
Goodbinder is married to Joel Abecassis, a Hadassah Associate.
Last November, she traveled to Israel for the first time to attend Hadassah’s 100th National Convention and is excited to be leading the local Chapter this year during the 75th birthday of the State of Israel.

There is no charge to attend the installation, but donations to Hadassah are always welcome.
The installation will be followed immediately by a Chapter Board meeting to discuss the Annual Plan of Hadassah Greater Kansas City. Board meetings are open to all Hadassah members.
