JFS is seeking more food drives to keep pantry shelves stocked
There’s nothing like a warm cup of cocoa on a wintry day, and that’s exactly what the Feinberg family offered to encourage donations for the Jewish Family Services Food Pantry.
The Jewish Community Chaplaincy Program, based at Jewish Family Services, provides spiritual care and connectivity during difficult times — illness, aging issues and loss of life.
Through its two location, the Jewish Family Services (JFS) food pantry is providing monthly food support to more than 900 families — double the number served since the pandemic began.
The White Theatre at The J is partnering with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), creators of the award-winning Yiddish Fiddler on the Roof, for a special livestream performance, called “Soul to Soul,” to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 18 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 per household.
The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City, “The J,” and Kehilath Israel Synagogue will hold its annual Trivia Bowl event on February 6 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. via Zoom. Registration is now open for teams of six, eight or individual tickets at www.TheJKC.org/Trivia.
MeltonKC, powered by HBHA, continues to offer a varied selection of 2020-21 courses to engage, connect and offer thought-provoking discussion among students of all ages and stages of Jewish learning. Currently, all classes are virtual, though some classes plan to meet outside (when possible) or reconvene when it is safe to return in person.
The Jewish Community Relations Bureau|AJC and Southern Christian Leadership Conference will hold their annual Martin Luther King Jr. interfaith service on 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10. It is a virtual event that will be streamed on the JCRB|AJC Facebook page.
