Nicole Dalen Hill announces the Bat Mitzvah of her daughter, Abigail Taylor, at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah at the Jewish Community Campus.

Abby is the granddaughter of Michael and Ellen Dalen.

Abby plays volleyball, is involved in theater and loves to sing. In her free time, she likes to sew and spend time with her friends. Abby earned the Presidential Gold Medal for volunteer service this past year.

For her Mitzvah project, Abby is collecting jewelry for the National Council of Jewish Women’s Mother’s Day Jewelry Project.

Nate is the grandson of Sam Devinki of Leawood, Barbara Devinki of La Quinta, California, and Jeff and Beth Fink of Armonk, New York. Nate’s sister is Kayla Fink.

Nate is also the great-grandson of Doris Koslow of Middle Island, New York, Martin Koslow, of blessed memory, and Fred and Maria Devinki, of blessed memory.

Eli is the grandson of Sharon and Alvin Cohen of Overland Park, Gregor Zellhofer of Overland Park, the late Paula Saks-Zellhofer of Chicago, and the late Dennis Jacobson of Des Plaines, Illinois. Eli’s sister is Emma Jacobson, his stepmom Laura Loyacono, and his stepsister and stepbrother are Elena and Joseph Loyacono Bustos of Kansas City, Missouri.

Michael Schonwetter and Kasey Kowalski were joyfully married on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Mildale Farm in Edgerton, Kansas. Both are graduates of Kansas State University.

The groom is the son of Mark and Janice Schonwetter and the bride is the daughter of John and Angela Kowalski. The couple and their parents reside in Overland Park.

The bride’s sister, Cali Kowalski, served as maid of honor and the groom’s brother, Ben Wiedermann, served as best man.

Bridesmaids were Morgan Priest, Victoria Wiebke, Marissa Leonard, Jessica Steppe and Kennedy Wools. Groomsmen were Armani Williams, Kevin Furdek, Kyle Marra, Joe Kowalski and Alex Ephraim.

Ushers were Connor Yost and Hunter Koch. Sloane Steppe, Presley Steppe, Ansley Gingerich and Harbor Kate Kovak served as flower girls and Cooper King was the ringbearer. Owen and Everett Gingerich were sign holders. Finley King was the reader and Jacob Gingerich was the guestbook greeter.

The interfaith ceremony was officiated by Rev. Gar Demo and Rabbi Jacques Cukierkorn.

Family and friends of the couple comprised the wedding party.

 

 

Rabbi Dr. Bernhard and Charlene Rosenberg of Edison, New Jersey, announce the engagement of their son, Ari Rosenberg, to Ayelet Mael, the daughter of Joel and Lynn Mael of Lawrence, New York.

Ari works in sales and Ayelet is an attorney. Both are residents of New York City.

The wedding will be held in the fall of 2019 in New York City.

 

Diana and Sam Stasi of Overland Park announce the engagement of their daughter, Shaina Stasi, to Daniel Tabakh, son of Diana and Eugene Tabakh of Leawood.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Ruth and Lester Shalinsky. She attended the University of Kansas, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in speech language pathology. She is currently employed at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka, Kansas.

The future groom is the grandson of Esfir Azbel and late Solomon Azbel and the late Isaac and Bella Tabakh. He attended the University of Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He is currently employed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment in Topeka.

A Sept. 1 wedding at Kehilath Israel Synagogue is planned.

 

Lisa, Larry and David Mallin invite the community to celebrate their father, Mel Mallin, on his upcoming 95th birthday.

They are planning an Oneg Shabbat on Saturday, July 6, following regular Shabbat services at Kehilath Israel Synagogue. All are welcome.

 

Charity Laine Deutch and Samuel Loren Deutch, Ph.D., announce the birth June 21, 2019, of their son, Simon Allen Deutch.

Paternal grandparents are Drs. Neal and Michelle Deutch. Maternal grandparents are Pamela and Dale Barnum. Paternal great-grandmother is Charlene Hecht.

Simon was 6 pounds, 12 ounces and 20¾ inches. Mom and baby are in good health and are at home. The Deutch’s are members of Congregation Ohev Sholom.

The bris was held Friday, June 29, at Neal and Michelle Deutch’s home.
