Norbert and Lilian Lipschuetz will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Aug. 20. After they both survived the Holocaust in Germany, they were married on Aug. 20, 1948.

They are pictured above in May 1948, shortly before their wedding.

The Lipschuetz’s are the parents of four children, Monica Mills (Rick), Benni Lipschuetz, Yvonne Rosenthal (Steve) and Jeff Lipschuetz (Barbara); the grandparents of Janet Maddox Wilson (Mike), Marly Morris (Mike), Angie Lipschuetz, Michael Lipschuetz, Jennifer Lyster (Chris), Kim Rosenthal, Chris Begole and Shelby Lipschuetz. They have eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

They have been members of Kehilath Israel Synagogue since 1957.

Dr. Daniel and Yael Malka Loren of Hartford, Conn., announce the birth May 30 of a daughter, Maya Rose Loren. They are also the parents of daughter Noa Sydney Loren.

Grandparents are Aaron and Madeline Silver, Leawood, Dr. Michael and Ann Loren, Overland Park, and Victor and Tzipporah Malka, Yokneam Elite, Israel.

Sheldon and Cindy Singer announce the engagement of their daughter, Megan Singer, to Samuel Pener, son of James and Elisa Pener.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Morton and Helene Singer and the late Irwin and Janice Block. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and is employed at Phoenix Family.

The future groom is the grandson of Edward and Rickie Haith and the late Louis and Bertha Pener. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tulane University and is employed at the American Academy of Family Physicians.

A winter wedding at Kehilath Israel Synagogue is planned.

Harold and Marie Asner will have been married 45 years on Aug. 18. The Asners were married on Aug. 18, 1968, in St. Cloud, Minn. Louis Asner, Overland Park, was best man.

Prior to being transferred to the Kansas City area, Harold and Marie lived in Omaha, Neb. Marie was an organist at Temple Israel prior to the 1975 tornado that severely damaged that building. Harold is retired from the Real Estate Division of the U. S. Postal service and is now an access services scheduling assistant and math tutor at Johnson County Community College. Marie is a freelance writer, workshop presenter, nationally published poet and entertainment reviewer with 5,600 bylines.

Mark and Trudy Slatkin will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 3.

In celebration of their anniversary, the couple took a trip in May to Disney World, followed by a Disney cruise. Joining them were their children and spouses, Debbie and Adam Lindenlaub, Overland Park, and Jon and Suzi Slatkin, Stanmore, U.K., along with their grandchildren, Jacob, Noah and Hannah Lindenlaub, and Ollie and Nathan Slatkin. They were also joined by other family members from New York and San Antonio for portions of the trip.

Brian and Sarah Glazer of St. Louis, Mo., announce the birth July 18 of a daughter, Miriam Golda. They are also the parents of Aharon and Chaim Yaakov.

Grandparents are Dr. and Mrs. Melvin Glazer of Overland Park, Janet Rothman of St. Louis and Tom Felix of Carmel, Calif.

Beth and Jerry Jordan of Leawood announce the engagement of their daughter, Rabbi Leah Greenwald Jordan, to Rabbi Benji Stanley, son of Carol and Jack Stanley of London.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Pola Greenwald and the late Gilbert Greenwald and Marianna Jordan and the late Jack Jordan, Glasco, Kan. She graduated from the University of Kansas Honors Program with a major in English and minors in history and French.

The future groom is the grandson of the late Esme and Cyril Joseph and the late Sophie and Joseph Burnstein. He graduated from Oxford, where he studied English literature.

In July, the future bride and groom were ordained from Leo Baeck College in London and received master’s degrees in Jewish studies from King’s College.

An Oct. 6 wedding at Congregation Beth Torah is planned. After their marriage, the couple will live in London where Rabbi Jordan will be a student and young adult chaplain at the Montague Centre of Liberal Judaism and admissions and recruitment adviser at Leo Baeck College. Rabbi Stanley will be joining the rabbinic team at West London Synagogue.

Steve and Danielle Bordman announce the Bat Mitzvah of their daughter, Erin Rose Bordman, at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 26, at Camp Sabra, Rocky Mount, Mo.

Erin is the granddaughter of Bill and Susan Berk and Lou and Janet Bordman.

Catherine Brewer and Daniel Singer were married on May 26 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego in a ceremony conducted by Rabbi Herbert J. Mandl.

The bride is the daughter of Keely and Dave Brewer, San Diego, and the granddaughter of Patricia and Emory Brazell, San Diego, and Marjorie and the late Edwin Brewer, Worcester, Mass.

The groom is the son of Cindy and Sheldon Singer, and the grandson of Helene and Morton Singer, and the late Janice Block and Irwin Block.

After a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple reside in Overland Park, where the bride is an attorney at Rouse Hendricks German May, and the groom is an attorney at Shamberg, Johnson and Bergman.

 

Timothy and Roslyn Dwyer, Lake Lotawana, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn Lauren Dwyer, to Nicholas Ryan Nuñez, son of Santiago and Celeste Nuñez, Algonquin, Ill.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Maxine Frank and the late Arthur Frank and William Dwyer Sr. and Sacha McGibbon. She attended the University of Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.

The future groom is the grandson of Michael and Carol Singleton and the late Judy Singleton and Guadalupe Nuñez and the late Nicolas Nuñez. He attended the University of Chicago and Princeton University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies and a Master of Arts degree in anthropology. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Princeton University, Princeton, N.J.
