Rozen is the first journalist to receive this award. The daughter of Sandra and Jay Rosen, she is a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School and was confirmed at Congregation Beth Shalom. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and a master’s in public policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
As a 2015 honoree, Rozen will be commended for her dedicated and thorough reporting that has led the pack in the fight for a diplomatic solution to the Iran nuclear negotiations. Her activity on social media and writing in Al-Monitor has been valuable in framing a peaceful solution as the best option.
The award has been presented eight times since 2008. Distinguished honorees from past years include Sen. Edward Kennedy, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Sen. Tom Harkin, Sen. Carl Levin, Rep. John Hall, Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Rep. John Lewis.
