The bride-to-be graduated from the University of Bari with a degree in mathematics and received her Ph.D. in mathematics from Columbia University in New York City. She is currently a lecturer in the mathematics department at the University of Texas in Austin.
The future groom is the grandson of Elliott Barlin of Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in history. He received his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Southwestern and went on to complete a fellowship in cardiology at NYU and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Cornell-Weill in New York City. He is currently in practice as an interventional cardiologist in Austin.
The couple reside in Austin and are planning an October wedding.
