Kira Lillard and David Lowland announce the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Elias Samuel Lowland, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Congregation Ohev Sholom. Elias also will celebrate his becoming a Bar Mitzvah at Temple Israel at 6 p.m. Friday, March 8 (service is held at Ohev Sholom).

Elias is the grandson of Dee Dee and Leonard Lowland and Patrick and Nina Lillard of Augusta, Ga. He is the great-grandson of the late Nathaniel and Betty Sharlip.

Judi and Larry Parnes announce the Bat Mitzvah of their daughter, Julia Rebecca, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Congregation Beth Shalom.

Julia is the granddaughter of Joe Karbank, Mary Parnes and the late Arnold Parnes, and the late Marika Karbank.

Abbie and Sam Brandao of New Orleans announce the birth Jan. 31 of a daughter, Clara Mae. They are also the parents of 2 1/2-year-old Henry.

Clara was named for her maternal great-grandmothers, Clara and Anita Mae (of blessed memory).

Janet and Louie Zwillenberg and Joan Lundquist announce the engagement of their children, Melissa Lundquist and Jeremy Zwillenberg of Chicago.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mary and Winston Green of Grand Mound, Iowa. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northern Illinois University. She is currently a member of the Human Capital team at Sterling Partners.

The future groom is the grandson of Marian Grossman, the late Jerome B. Grossman and the late Joseph and Edith Zwillenberg of Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He is currently a freight broker at On a Roll Trucking.

A family wedding in Chicago is planned for October.

Emma is the granddaughter of Barbara Bograd, Boynton Beach, Fla., and Anne and Steve Music, Dallas.

Dr. William and Jodi Rosenthal announce the Bat Mitzvah of their daughter, Melissa Nicole, on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Kehilath Israel Synagogue. Missy will participate in the Traditional Kehilath Israel service beginning at 8 a.m. She will also lead Congregation Beth Shalom’s Conservative service at 10:30 a.m., immediately following the K.I. service. Both services will be at Kehilath Israel Synagogue.

Missy is the granddaughter of Noreen Greenberg and the late Marvin Greenberg and the late Dr. Mortimer and Harriett Rosenthal.
