I was shocked and deeply saddened by the recent article in the Chronicle titled “Dozens of U.S. Rabbinical sign letter calling for American Jews to hold Israel accountable for alleged human rights abuses.”
It is obvious to me that these woke Rabbis have no sense of history. Did they expect Israel to turn the other cheek in 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973? Would they be happier if the number of Israelis killed was equivalent to the number of Hamas terrorists killed? Would they feel better if more Israeli children were killed?
Golda Meir once said “When peace comes, we will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons, but it will be harder for us to forgive them for having forced us to kill their sons. Peace will come when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us.”
It is irresponsible to blame Israel for defending themselves against a barrage of 4,000 undiscriminating rockets. The blame lies directly at the doorstep of Hamas.
Forty years ago my mother, Maria Devinki of blessed memory, told me that when the Nazi’s came to power, some Jews supported Hitler. I couldn’t understand that. I also can’t understand the squad and the woke culture towards Israel today.
In my opinion, any Jew who does not stand 100% behind the Israeli people is complicit in the death of every Israeli killed by Hamas. As American Jews, we must stand together.
