In a recent Reader’s Forum letter entitled “A facistic insurrection,” the writer has once again chosen to use the Holocaust to reinforce her political opinions. In my opinion this is very dangerous, and shows a complete lack of regard for the millions who died because of the Nazi regime.
The comparison with Hitler and the Nazis to what happened in Washington in early January diminishes the meaning of the Holocaust and the six million Jews who were murdered. It also indicates the writer’s complete lack of understanding of the events that happened between 1933 and 1945. If she wants to express her political bias that is her right because this is America, but using the Holocaust to bolster that bias will always be unacceptable.
