Judaic history repeatedly proves that freedom is not free.
The past, present and certainly the future (if we have one, G-d-willing), need to promote truth, justice and diversity of opinion. Sadly, freedoms are being eroded by controlling/suppressive powers that justify using hypocrisy and spin to promote a sliding scale for ethics, truth and facts. Knowingly or unknowingly, we all promote shameful, pejorative guise.
Perhaps “progress” is an oxymoron, as we have “advanced” to threaten each other through mutual annihilation — whether through disease, nuclear destruction or other heinous actions. History will indeed show that such darkness of evil/hatred/jealousy is our nemesis.
Our future — indeed the future of our children — depends on G-d and our G-d-given choices. It needs to be a conscious choice incumbent upon each of us to work for Tikkun Olam; to dispel the darkness of evil with thoughts, words and actions that bring harmony to this world we all share as partners with G-d, with each other and all creation.
