Irrational hatred of, and violence toward, Jewish Americans has been occurring with alarming frequency, and, as President Biden has said, “This must stop.”

Having been blessed to have come of age under the tutelage of the giants of the civil rights movement, I was taught that the worst thing one could do to the targets of hate was not to join forces with the bigots, but rather to display absolute indifference toward the bigotry. When my Jewish brothers and sisters are wounded, my soul bleeds, as it should for every American.

Hatred of any of God’s children is an abomination and it must be called out and condemned. I do so with the strongest possible measure of my being.
