My donation was sponsored by the Halachic Organ Donor Society (HODS). At the time I was not Jewish, but my family and I were living a Jewish lifestyle. My donation was a practical demonstration of my devotion and fidelity to HaShem, the Torah, and the Jewish people. It changed my life … forever.
Like the prophet Isaiah, I answered HaShem’s call with “Here I am! Send me!” (Isaiah 6.1-8). I am confident that someone, near or far, will also hear the “call” and step forward as a live kidney donor to save the life of Debra Porter Gill. I’m sorry … I’d donate again, but I only have one kidney left. I guess that’s why HaShem gave us two … one to keep and one to give away.
