Richard Shoob, 72, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully in Plano, Texas, on Aug. 1.

Born on June 26, 1952, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Richard moved to the United States with his family in 1964 when he was 12. He loved soccer and excellent food, enjoying the sport and watching matches. Known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, he was revered for his kindness and ethics by those fortunate enough to know him. He was fond of entertaining and passionate about traveling, which he shared with his devoted wife. He had an undeniable joy for life.

Richard had a brilliant career in the apparel industry, most notably elevating the Canadian brand Joseph Ribkoff to prominence in the United States and fast-tracking the brand’s success. He later transitioned into the optical business with continued success. Richard elevated every brand he worked with through his impressive ambition and trustworthy nature, which attracted a loyal clientele. His eloquent storytelling captivated those around him. He was consistently known by his nieces and nephews as being involved and supportive of their dreams and aspirations.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Rebeca and Julius Shoob of Overland Park, Kansas, and his mother-in-law, Phyllis Walcott of San Angelo, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Dennette (DeeDee) Shoob, and his beloved dog, Luna (Bella) Shoob, of Plano. Also surviving are his sister, Roz, and brother-in-law, Fred Goodman of Leawood, Kansas; and his nephews and nieces, Jeff and Heather Goodman and their son, Jacob of Overland Park; Brian and Candace Goodman and their children, Isabelle and Cooper, of Newport Beach, California; and Michael and DeeDee Goodman and their children, Ella and Madison, of Overland Park. He is also survived by his aunt, Fanny Epstein of Overland Park; his father-in-law, Ronnie Walcott of San Angelo; sister-in-law, Laura and Mike Richter of Mesquite, Texas; nephews, Rowdy and Wendy Richter and their children, Dorcell, Giani, Townes and Ransom of San Angelo; Nick and Shelly Richter and their children, Cash and Holley of Rockwall, Texas; and Lucas Richter of Mesquite. His sister-in-law, Kristi and Thames Stone of Allen, Texas, and their children, Landon and Brittany Stone; and brother-in-law, Mike Walcott and his son, Weston Walcott of San Angelo, also survive him.

A celebration of his life was held on Aug. 4 in Allen at the home of Loren and Gary Petersen. Shiva was held on Aug. at the home of Jeff and Heather Goodman in Overland Park.
