Beverly (Bev) Cohen, 83, passed away on July 6, 2024.

She was a world traveler, taco and restaurant connoisseur, avid sports fan, popcorn lover, movie watcher and everyone’s mom.

Born Beverly Ann Morris on Aug. 6, 1940, to Sam and Diane Morris, she grew up in Kansas City and attended Paseo High School. Bev caught the eye of Ronald (Ron) Cohen in 1964, and the two were married on Sept. 4, 1966. This led to many adventures and the birth of their beautiful, vibrant daughter, Stacy Joy, in 1969.

This allowed Bev to accomplish what she wanted most in life — to love, be loved and have a family of her own. She adored her daughter and wanted her to be loved by everyone. She was passionate about teaching Stacy to follow her own path and chase her dreams.

Bev, Ron and Stacy were fortunate to travel the world together and create many beautiful memories as a family. They took several dream vacations, including countless cruises and a tour of Asia and Bev’s favorite destination – Jamaica.

She was a doer. In 1991, Bev relocated her family from Culver City, California, to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she worked as a pit clerk for The Mirage casino and then transferred to Treasure Island in 1998. She finally decided to retire at age 79.

In 1992, Bev’s intelligent and athletic grandson, Nathan, was born. He was the apple of her eye and made her sports-loving heart happy. She loved watching him wrestle and play football, baseball and lacrosse. It didn’t matter if it was a home or away event, she was there to cheer him on. She was so proud to watch Nathan earn second in state for wrestling and be named Student Athlete of the Year for Green Valley High School.

Bev always filled her home with warmth and kindness and made it her mission to enrich the lives of others. Most will fondly remember her as “mom.” She loved her friends and family as well as Stacy and Nathan’s friends from childhood through adulthood.

A true love story, Bev and Ron lived for date night. They went to the movies weekly, and she always ordered two buckets of popcorn – one to eat during the movie and one to take home. Bev also gave new meaning to Taco Tuesday. She could’ve lived on tacos any night of the week but loved to explore the Las Vegas restaurant scene.

Bev was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Cohen; daughter Stacy (Jeff) Cohen-Bartholomew; grandson, Nathan Thomas; sister, Tonia Agron; twin brothers, Lee (Marlene) and Lyle (Marie) Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

To say Bev will be missed by her loving and close family is an understatement, but they promised her they would continue to live life to the fullest and make her proud.

A celebration of her wonderful life will be held Sunday, Aug. 11, at noon at 7360 Eastgate Rd., Unit 123 in Henderson, Nevada. The family asks everyone to please dress in red, white and blue.
