Alfred Leslie Carr, 92, of Overland Park, Kansas, died on June 2.
Graveside services were held on June 5 at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Leukemia Foundation, Children's Mercy or Chabad House of Leawood.
Al was born on Feb. 25, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Paseo High School and served for four years in the US Air Force. He was married to Marcia Ann Carr for 67 years.
He took over ownership from his father and ran C&D Auto Salvage until he retired in April of 2005.
Al used to have the nickname “man with the hands of gold;” he could fix or make just about anything anyone wanted. He loved woodworking, from making toy trains to constructing a Torah ark. Past hobbies included fishing/boating, radio controlled airplanes, making artwork from internal car parts, doing crossword puzzles and playing Wordle. His favorite was playing pool.
Of course, along with his wife, his grandchildren were the light of his life. He was the nicest man you’d ever meet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna (Nudleman) Carr; sister, Gertie Bursten; and brother, Sydney Carr.
Al is survived by his wife, Marcia Ann Carr; daughters, Cheryl Choikhit and Jana Schoeller (Tim); grandchildren, Ashley Held (Daniel), Brittany Margolies (Max), Garin Schoeller and Allyssa Schoeller; and great grandchildren, Ruby Margolies, Noah Held, and Cayden Burnett-Schoeller.
