Marcia Phyllis Schorr, 76, of Overland Park, Kansas, died on May 31.

Graveside services were held June 3 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Marcia was a lifelong Kansas City area resident, born in 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri, and living most of her life in Overland Park. Marcia was born to Rose and Leonard Bayzman. She attended Southeast High School and Kansas City Metropolitan Junior College. Over the years, Marcia worked in several offices as clerical staff including the Dinner Playhouse Theater-Tiffany’s Attic and the parks and recreation department of the City of Overland Park.

In 1970, Marcia met Steven Schorr on a blind date on a Friday 13th, which made 13 her lucky number. The two wed in 1972 and recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on April 8.

She is survived by her husband, Steven, of Overland Park; son, Neil Schorr, of Overland Park; and daughter, Pamela Pernick, of Snoqualmie, Washington. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Simeon, Caitlyn and Rhen Pernick; and her brother, Warren (wife, Beth) Bayzman.

Marcia’s hobbies included reading (especially mysteries) and cross stitch, and she loved watching and singing along with Broadway musicals.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Marcia’s memory to Hadassah, Congregation Beth Shalom of Kansas City, or a charity of your choice. Online condolences for the family may be left on her tribute page on louismemorialchapel.com.
