Herbert “Herb” Gershon of Overland Park, Kansas, died on May 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Herb was born on Aug. 31, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Paseo High School in the ROTC program.
Herb met the love of his life, Vicki, and they were married for 60 blissful years. He completed his degree in respiratory therapy and became the head of the department at Jackson County Hospital. Later in life, Herb found his passion in commercial real estate appraising.
Herb is survived by his daughter, Stacy (Mark) Schenberg, and his son, Jordan Gershon. He has four grandchildren, Alex Gershon, Brandon Schenberg, Brooke (Erik) Niethamer and Emily (Nicholas) Quick. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki Gershon; sister Eunice (Ben) Ruben; and brothers, Bill (Florence) Gershon, Jerald (Hortense) (Francis) Gershon and daughter-in-law Beth Gershon.
Herb will be remembered as a humble and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed. Memorial service was held graveside on May 6 at Rose Hill Cemetery. Family suggests contributions to Village Shalom.
