Minerva Zelda Cohen, 96, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away peacefully on March 23 with her son by her side.
Funeral services were held on March 26 at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the American Parkinson’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
Zelda was born on May 9, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Joseph and Blanche (Jerwick) Levine. She met her husband, Gerald Cohen, shortly after he got out of the Navy, and they were married 52 years before his passing.
In addition to her parents and husband, Zelda was preceded in death by her children Jim Cohen and Susan Fisher; sister, Esther; and brothers, Louis and Abe.
Zelda is survived by her son Kenny and his wife Joy; grandchildren, Michelle Sylvester (Mark), Courtney Craig (Chris) and Patrick Cohen (Emmie); six great-grandchildren, Georgia, Amelia, Ariel, Whit, Billy and Tink; as well as her close friend and caregiver, Brenda Crow.
