Betty Klopper Berlin, 89, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Aug. 19.
She was born to Rose and William Klopper on Jan. 18, 1934.
Betty’s life was a difficult one due to the loss of her daughter, Sallie Jo Berlin, in 1976, and the subsequent painful circumstance of caring for her mentally challenged adult son.
Betty loved yellow roses, fashion, all things chocolate and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Betty was further preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nadine Klopper Agron; and brother, Charles Klopper.
A graveside funeral was held at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California, on Aug. 28, where she was laid to rest with her daughter, Sallie Jo.
Betty is survived by her children Paula Berlin and Mark Berlin, and her grandson, Simon Levorato.
The family wishes to thank Jewish Family Services of Kansas City and Louis Memorial Chapel for their extraordinary support. Moreover, the family asks that we, as a society, dismiss the stigma of mental illness with further awareness, love and compassion.
