Bertie David Joseph Reuben, 94, of Leawood, Kansas, died peacefully on Sept. 2.

Funeral services were held at the Louis Memorial Chapel on Sept. 5, followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah’s Educational Fund or Social Action Hunger Fund in memory of Bertie.

Bertie was born Oct. 18, 1928, to the late Joseph N. Reuben and Hannah Reuben of Mumbai, India. He graduated from the University of Leeds in England (1959), where he received a Bachelor of Science in textile chemistry. He then graduated in 1963 from Clemson University in South Carolina with a Master of Science in textile chemistry. In 1966, he married Ruby Rebecca Samuel Nagawker from Mumbai, India. Bertie was a senior research chemical scientist for Monsanto until he retired in 1991. He then did consulting as a senior chemist for Young Dental, retiring in 2003. 

Bertie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph N. Reuben and Hannah Reuben; brothers, Bunny, George and Elijah; and sister, Esther Dubey.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Reuben; daughter Karen Reuben-Hallock and son-in-law Alexander Hallock of Leawood; son, Joseph Reuben, and daughter-in-law Rebecca Reuben of Mission Hills, Kansas; and daughter Leora Zorich and son-in-law Richard Zorich of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by nine grandchildren,  Hannah, Sarah, Ethan, Ryan, Jacob, Noah, Grace, Mirielle and Benjamin.
