Gregory Martin Osbourn, 55, of Overland Park, Kansas, unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep after happily making dinner for his family and then retiring to bed on July 17, 2023.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean (McCrory), and twin sons, Kenneth and James. Greg died on Global Hug Your Kids Day — Greg relentlessly took every opportunity to hug his sons and declare how much he loved them and his wife, Jean, whom he adored. Jean was the love of Greg’s life, and he was never happier than when he spent time with Jean and the boys.

Greg was born Oct. 8, 1967, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Janice and Kenneth Osbourn, survived by his sister, Lisa. Greg graduated from Parkway Central High School (St. Louis). He attended University of Rolla, where he was a member of Theta Xi fraternity and served on the Saint Pat’s Board (there are some amusing stories there). Greg transferred to Missouri State University where he earned a BA in Accounting and was a member of the Accounting Club. He was also a DJ/radio announcer at KSMU (he obsessively loved all music). He could recognize most songs by just a few measures and knew some of the most interesting trivia. He further achieved his CPA, an MBA and CMA. Education was important to Greg, which he instilled in his sons, on whom he is lovingly smiling down.

Greg was a wise planner, to the nth degree (both work and life). An example is the time he planned a group family trip to Disney World, where he sent an Excel spreadsheet to the family with a detailed daily schedule, by the hour, for the entire trip, to which his sister replied, “Greg, can you be more of an accountant?”

Greg was smart, serious, but also a jokester. He loved to kid around, loved watching the KC Chiefs, and he was a master of the barbecue. Greg was beloved by his entire family, was always surrounded by friends, and all will miss him dearly.
