Loraine Kippur Mnookin passed away on May 3, 2023, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
She was born to Jack and Ida Kippur in Denver, Colorado, on Sep. 14, 1927. Her family moved to Kansas City when she was three years old, and Loraine lived there for most of her life. She spent the past 13 years in Scottsdale living close to her daughters, Cathy and Julie. Loraine was predeceased by her husband Milton Mnookin. The two shared 46 years of marriage.
Having enjoyed remarkably good health for most of her life, Loraine’s youthful talent as a dancer transferred to the practice of yoga in her later years. She played bridge and mahjong and was well known at the local library for her passion for reading. Her love for good movies instilled the same in her three children. Cooking wasn’t her thing, although she made a mean brownie, and was famous for her love of all things sweet. Loraine’s shoe and jewelry collection was legendary. Loraine was one of QVC’s most avid shoppers. She was known for her beautiful skin.
The loved ones Loraine left behind are: son Barry Mnookin of Chicago, Illinois; daughters Cathy Curtis of Scottsdale and Julie Dornbush of Phoenix, Arizona; and five grandsons: Daniel Mnookin (Maria) of La Jolla, California, Michael Mnookin (Debbie) of Highland Park, Illinois, Joshua Mnookin (Caroline) of Glencoe, Illinois, Aaron Dornbush (Maura) of Denver, Colorado, and Andrew Dornbush (Megan) of Gilbert, Arizona. Loraine was delighted by her six great grandchildren, Jack Mnookin, Miles Mnookin, Isaac Mnookin, Hazel Mnookin, Olivia Dornbush, and Charlotte Dornbush.
Memorial donations in Loraine’s name may be made to Jewish Family Services of Greater Kansas City. Her family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family and friends. Services will be held later.
