Estelle Rae (Zeldin) Grundstein, 84, of Los Angeles, California — beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend — passed away on April 10.
Daughter of the late Hyman and Sarah Zeldin, she grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from the University of Missouri. After college, she moved with her best friend, Madelyn Miller, to California, where their friendship continued until Estelle’s last day.
Estelle was an elementary school teacher and teacher’s assistant for over 30 years. She loved baking desserts, writing calligraphy, collecting teddy bears, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a long-time member of Kehillat Israel in Los Angeles and was active in many volunteer activities.
She was a devoted wife to Abe Grundstein for 43 years until his passing in 2011. She also was predeceased by her brother Bert Zeldin and brother-in-law, Marvin Goldstein.
Estelle is survived by her sons Andrew (Robin) Grundstein of Athens, Georgia, and Aaron (Lilitte) Grundstein of Oceanside, California; grandsons Tyler Grundstein and Jake Grundstein; brothers Stan (Joyce) Zeldin and Bob (Jean) Zeldin; twin sister Adelle Goldstein; and by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on April 16 at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills.
