Irwin Waxman, born April 3, 1927, passed away on March 14, 2023.
Irwin was the son of Fannie and Meyer Waxman of Albany, New York. He attended Albany State College and Temple University School of Podiatry. There, he met his wife, Irma, with whom he shared life’s journey for 68 years.
Irwin was in the Navy in World War II and pursued his interest in the military by joining the Army Air Force reserve, attaining the rank of Colonel.
He was a long time member of the Plaza Kiwanis, serving as president in 1970. He was an avid runner and ran in five marathons and many half marathons.
Upon retirement, he pursued his hobbies making and flying radio-controlled airplanes and ham radio.
He was always curious and interested in furthering his education by accumulating 160 credits in various subjects at Johnson County Community College.
His greatest pride and joy were his three daughters, his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter, and they loved him dearly.
He leaves behind his wife, Irma; Melanie and Dan Allmayer; Andrea and Pat Mulcahy; Rachel and Doug Breyfogle; six grandchildren, Naomi and Josh (Ariella) Allmayer; Maia and Ivana Mulcahy; Alexa and Paige Breyfogle; and great-granddaughter, Adina Allmayer.
He led a happy and fulfilling life.
