Mel Birnbaum passed away on Feb. 25, 2023, of natural causes.
He was born in Maryville, Missouri, on Nov. 25, 1927, and moved to Kansas City as a young child. He married Beverly Gampol on Dec. 1, 1957. He had a successful career for many years selling packaging materials in the food industry. He was also a representative for Zep Chemical Company. They moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1994. He is preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Isadore Birnbaum; his step-father, Joseph Klugman; and his brother Liebert Birnbaum.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his son, David, and daughter-in-law, Kelly; as well as his older brother, Bernard Birnbaum.
Mel never met a stranger. He was loved by everyone who knew him. He enjoyed playing golf and watching it on TV in his later years.
Memorial services were held in Scottsdale on March 2, 2023, at Paradise Gardens by Rabbi Schneider.
