Beth Ann Gershon, 62, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Jan. 26, 2023, in Overland Park.
Beth was born in Fulton, Missouri, to Frank and Neva Shiverdecker on July 26, 1960. After a five-year battle with Ewing’s sarcoma, she passed peacefully with family surrounding her.
Beth earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri, followed by a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Kansas. She worked as a middle school counselor for Shawnee Mission School District for 38 years. She enjoyed reading books, spending time with friends and family, hanging by the beach, and most importantly, helping change kids' lives.
Beth is survived by her husband, Jordan Gershon (Overland Park); children, Alex Gershon (Overland Park) and Brooke Niethamer (Erik) (McKinney, Texas); mother, Neva Shiverdecker (Mokane, Missouri); sister, Tina Trudell (Tebbetts, Missouri); brothers, Rick Shiverdecker (Fulton, Missouri), and Randy Shiverdecker (Mokane); and multiple nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Shiverdecker.
A funeral service was held at The Temple, Congregation B'nai Jehudah on Jan. 27, 2023, with Rabbi Kramer officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 9501 159th St, Overland Park, KS 66221. Beth’s wishes were for everyone to come in colorful dress.
