Natalie S. Holland, 93, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, died Dec. 22, 2022, in Overland Park, Kansas.

Natalie was born Oct. 24, 1929, to the late Henrietta (Schultz) and S. Arthur Brown, in Waterloo, Iowa. Her father died when she was four years old, so she and her brother Jim grew up in St. Louis and Bowling Green, Missouri. She told stories of riding to her one-room school on a donkey.

She moved to St. Louis for college at Washington University and later met and married Herb (Red) Holland of Sioux City, Iowa. Natalie and Red were married 47 years until his passing in 2000 from complications of multiple sclerosis.

Throughout her life, Natalie could fix or build anything, and she volunteered for community organizations, including a food pantry. She played bridge and golf, created beautiful stained glass pieces and helped wherever she was needed. She even once caught a 7-foot sailfish.

She was an inspiring mother, grandmother and aunt, and a true and loyal friend and cousin.

She is survived by daughters Stephanie Katzif (Larry) of Overland Park and Nancy Holland of White Bear, Minnesota; son Dana Holland of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren Michael Katzif of Washington D.C.; Elise Walker (Ben) of Overland Park; and Anna Laroque (Donnyves) of San Diego, California; great-grandchildren Adam and Abigail Walker; and caring cousins and friends.

Many thanks to the caring staff of Westchester Village and Ascend Hospice.

A private ceremony commemorating her life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a food pantry or charity of your choice.
