Fannie Krashin, 91, born June 5, 1931, died peacefully in her apartment at Village Shalom on Dec. 14, 2022.

Funeral services and interment were held on Dec. 16, 2022, at the Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery Chapel, 1901 Blue Ridge Blvd, Independence, MO 64052. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Village Shalom.org/ages, Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, or The Shul - Chabad of Leawood.

Fannie lived in the Greater Kansas City area most of her adult life. Her life was indeed a classic love story. Her husband, Jack Krashin, may his memory be for a blessing, was everything to her. Fannie and Jack did everything together and worked hard for their family and community. Fannie cared for her WWII hero until his death, as he suffered lifelong warfighter trauma.

Fannie upheld Jewish values in and out of her home and was an example to others. For many years, she loved hosting the entire family for Shabbat dinners, Jewish holidays and other simchas, of which there were many. Fannie was a member of Congregation Beth Israel Abraham and Voliner (BIAV) and Kehilath Israel Synagogue for many years and supported The Shul - Chabad of Leawood. Fannie diligently attended Shabbat and holiday services, even walking to the synagogue during snow and rain storms. Over the years, Fannie worked diligently on behalf of many charitable and Jewish organizations such as Haddassah, AMIT, BIAV, and Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy.

Fannie was born in Mexico City, Mexico, and lived there until her teen years. Fannie loved her life in Mexico and often told the family stories about her experiences. The family moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she enjoyed all New York had to offer, from Radio City Music Hall to the famous delis and strolls down Flatbush Avenue. After meeting the love of her life, Jack, on a trip to Kansas City, they were married about three months later in Mexico City and eventually moved to the Kansas City area.

Fannie was an excellent businesswoman and was credit manager for House of Lloyd in Grandview, Missouri, for many years. During her tenure there, she helped grow the business, and since she was fluent in Spanish, she did a lot of work on behalf of the company in Mexico.

Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Krashin; her parents, Charles and Rosita Levine; and her brother, Herbert Levine.

She is survived by her son Joe Krashin (Netta); three daughters, Marsha Rubin, Shelly Krashin (Bob Bretton, of blessed memory), and Cara Krashin, all residing in Overland Park, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Fannie is also survived by two brothers, Eugene Levine and Murray Levine of Brooklyn, New York, and her sister, Helen Neustadt, of West Orange, New Jersey, as well as many nieces and nephews around the country. She was a loving light to the family, who all miss her.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at Village Shalom, Vicky Horn and Sonnie Alemu, who took fantastic care of her, as well as Dr. Don Cohen. Online condolences may be left for the family at louismemorialchapel.com.
