Marian F. Berkowitz passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, at Village Shalom in Overland Park, Kansas.

She was born on Jan. 14, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Daniel and Mollie Indin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Harold Berkowitz; her son, Ronald Berkowitz; and her sister, Anita Gevertz. 

Marian and Harold were owners in Indin’s Plaza Men’s Wear for many years. She loved helping customers. She later enjoyed working at Saks and as a travel agent. She was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom and its Sisterhood and a life member of NCJW, Hadassah, and The Auxiliary of Village Shalom. For many years, Marian volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House. She was also a big supporter of many veterans’ groups.

Marian loved playing tennis and bridge. At Village Shalom, she enjoyed playing bingo and board games and was a big fan of making beaded necklaces and bracelets which she wore with pride. She was always a favorite of the staff who welcomed new people to assisted living.

She is survived by her nieces Barbara Palan (Bob) and Sharon Milens (Mike) of Overland Park; her nephew, Jay Gewertz of Dallas, Texas; and many cousins and friends. The family would like to thank her longtime caregivers, Siarah Villanueva and Sonya Doherty, for their love and care.

A graveside service was held on Nov. 17, 2022, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
