Janet Ruth Kranitz, 82, of Overland Park, Kansas, died on Oct. 13, 2022.
Graveside services will be held 9:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 21 at Rose Hill Cemetery, 6900 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri.

Janet was born on Dec. 1, 1939, to the late Nat and Pearl Pfefer in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Paseo High School. She married Mitchell Kranitz in 1963. She was a lifelong Kansas City area resident and was a member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah.
Early in her life, she had a passion for fashion design and created a beautiful portfolio of drawings and sketches that continue to provide pleasure and delight to her family. Janet had a longstanding career in the high-end retail jewelry business. She enjoyed playing cards and other games with her friends. She loved animals and was devoted to her last dog, Mickey, whom she lost several years ago.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Mitchell Kranitz; her brother, Martin Pfefer; and her two daughters, Ericka Kranitz and Marcy Gelfand. She is also survived by her nieces, a nephew and many special friends.
