Davina Beth Scokin passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday, July 15, 2022.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 13, 1968, to Dina and Mauricio Scokin, Davina spent most of her adult life residing in DeRidder, Louisiana.
With a daughter with special needs, Davina’s parents worked tirelessly to explore and provide as many therapies that would hopefully improve her quality of life. Davina loved spending time with people that loved her back. Going to a zoo to see all the animals, playing with dolls, and dancing in the living room with her father were all things she enjoyed as a child and adult. Davina, like her beloved father, enjoyed a good meal like grabbing a burger, fries, and a shake at a Sonic or anything cooked up by her mother. She loved shopping with her mom and dad. She enjoyed riding around while singing to music; her favorites were John Denver, Elvis Presley and Janet Jackson. Her favorite color was turquoise, but we think she was unfairly influenced by her mother with that choice.
Davina was greatly loved by her eight nieces and nephews.
Davina was preceded in death by her parents, Dina and Mauricio Scokin. She is survived by her sister, Carlota (Lotti) Halpern (Michael); brother, Daniel Scokin (Monica); many nieces and nephews, and a grandnephew.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 12 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, located at 5529 Ditzler Ave, Raytown, MO 64133. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Autism Speaks.
“Praised are You, Creator of the Universe, who makes people different, one from the other.”
