It’s amazing the kind of courage and strength, resilience and determination, kindness and caring, compassion, joy and love Lolly Davisson brought to the world.
Who knew this little girl, growing up in the streets of Casablanca, Morocco, in the ‘40s and early ‘50s, lively and vivacious, would find her way to the fields and prairies of the midwest?
Lolly Chocron was born June 21, 1936, in Casablanca, Morocco, to her parents Isaac Chocron and Esther Chocron (Elmalem). She always spoke of fond memories of growing up with a large French Moroccan family, going to the beach, walking the streets with her brother Armond, being spoiled by a few wealthy uncles, and yes, going to USO clubs with her sister Gigi.
Who would have imagined she would be swept up by a handsome Air Force airman, Ronald Davisson, whom she met at a USO club in Casablanca, to say “I do” in 1958 and make her home in Kansas City? That she would have four children who became her life, her joy, her purpose and meaning for what truly mattered most to her in this world: Tom in 1959, Gary in 1961, Esther in 1962, and Todd in 1964? Who could contemplate the pain and perseverance it took to bury her son Gary in 1984, at the all too young age of 22?
Lolly adored her children from the day they were born to the day she left this earth. When her children married, she was blessed with three great additions to her family. The spouses of Lolly’s children added to the energy and joy of family get-togethers: Mickey Vinzant, Esther’s husband; Audrey Davisson, Tom’s wife; and Michelle Parkinson.
Lolly had a total of seven grandchildren: Kimberly Oeth, Matthew McDonald, Jacob Vinzant, Eddie and Joey Bechina, Gary Davisson, and Rebecca Davisson.
Lolly will be missed by her family and friends. May her memory forever be a blessing.
