Lucille Selma Cohen Toback passed away peacefully in her room at Village Shalom on April 23, 2022.
Lucille was born on April 2, 1930, to Rose and Julius Michael Cohen in Brooklyn, New York. There, she and Leonard Toback raised three daughters.
Lucille was active in her daughters' PTA, becoming co-president of the George W. Wingate High School Parents Association in the turbulent years of the late 1960s, where she also ran the school bookstore.
Lucille and her husband moved to the Brookside area of Kansas City in the 1970s, having been introduced to the area by her brother Eugene Cohen, of blessed memory.
Lucille worked for the IRS from the 1970s until the early 2000s and retired at age 77. During this time, Lucille moved to Lawrence, Kansas; she loved the vibe of the college town, living just off Massachusetts Street for 30 years.
Lucille is survived by three daughters: Renee Toback, Mindy Pinkerton and Shari Barr (Dick); five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
The family wishes to acknowledge and express their gratitude to the staff at Village Shalom Memory Care unit for their tremendous support and excellent caregiving.
