Brian David Thalblum was born on March 9, 1971, in North Miami Beach, Florida.

He moved to Kansas City with his family when he was 3 years old and spent the majority of his life here. He graduated from Pembroke Hill School in 1989 and subsequently from Northwestern University in 1993. He worked primarily in the restaurant industry.

Brian loved performing, movies, and any sporting event. He had a fantastic memory and was a repository of facts. He was the one you wanted on your team in Trivial Pursuit. He was personable and outgoing. One of his favorite activities was doing improv with ComedySportz.

Brian was a lifetime fan of Kansas City Chiefs football, Kansas City Royals baseball, and KU Jayhawks basketball. He went to any game he could make it to. He went to the World Cup Soccer matches when they were in the United States. He did a tour of baseball stadiums one summer with his mother.

Brian could recite every line from nearly any Mel Brooks movie, but especially from his favorite, “Blazing Saddles.”

Brian died tragically on April 2, 2022, at the age of 51, when he was stuck by a car. Shortly before the accident he had enjoyed watching KU make it to the NCAA championship. He is survived by his children, Tyler and Samantha; his parents, Donna and Harvey; and his brother Todd (Sabrina) and their children, Noah and Gabriella.

Funeral services were held at Louis Memorial Chapel on April 6, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah.
