Matthew William Weiner passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022.

He was born Oct. 4, 1973, in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents are Stan and Mary Weiner.

Matt attended The Hebrew Academy in Overland Park, Kansas, where he obtained skills for his bar mitzvah at Congregation Beth Shalom in Leawood, Kansas. He graduated from the Plaza Academy after attending Shawnee Mission South High School. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from DeVry University in Florida.

While growing up, Matt enjoyed skiing, playing team sports, woodworking, and he had a love of the ocean. He lived in several Florida cities before moving to Tennessee. He enjoyed building things for his home and loved computers, seeking a career where he could use his extensive skills. He became a loan processor, able to work remotely from his Tennessee mountain home, complete with a wrap-around deck allowing him to enjoy the mountain views and the wildlife he loved so much. He had a tender heart toward his animal friends, including cats, deer and even goats. He loved movies and had a large collection accumulated over the years.

Matt was a top producer in his mortgage company and was well respected by his co-workers and administrators. His company team indicated that it “won’t be the same without him.” His friends advised us that they knew he always “had their backs.” He will be missed by all.

Matt is survived by his parents, Stan and Mary; brother Keith (Dena) Weiner of Mission Viejo, California; sister Marcy (Gary) Rydell of Overland Park, Kansas; aunt Terri (Stan) Katzman of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Kitty City Kansas or an animal shelter of their choice.

A graveside service was held at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri on Monday, Feb. 7.  Online condolences for the family may be left at louismemorialchapel.com.
