David Yukon, 81, of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Feb. 8, 2022.
Graveside services were held Feb. 11 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 5529 Ditzler, Raytown, MO 64133. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in David’s name to The Transplant Institute or Jewish Family Services.
David was born Berle Dave Yukon on June 16, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Harry and Lillian (Kaplan) Yukon. He grew up in Kansas City and remained a life-long resident.
David served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired as airman first class in 1966.
He met Sara Jo Weiner, and they were soon married in 1971, spending a loving 50 years together. Of all the things David loved, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals were among the top things. At one time he also had a fondness for gambling, but he gave that up long ago.
In David’s free time, he enjoyed volunteering at Research Medical Center, where he was beloved by all staff and patients alike.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his mother- and father-in-law, Dorothy and Max Weiner.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sara Jo Yukon; daughter, Stacey Allison and her husband Calvin; and sister, Sheila Horowitz.
