Kenneth “Ken” Samet, 67, of Kansas City, Missouri, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery, 1901 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64052. The family suggests donations be made to Jewish Family Services of Greater Kansas City, Kehilath Israel Synagogue, and Echo Hill Gold Star Camp (Medina, Texas).

Ken was born on Oct. 8, 1954, to the late Ruth and Allen Samet, in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1972 and received a Bachelor of Science from UMKC and his master’s degree from Rockhurst University as a Certified Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Ken was very passionate about helping other people throughout his entire life. He was a well-respected respiratory therapist for over 40 years, during which time he mentored, trained and/or supervised many of the respiratory staff.

He was a very kind, compassionate and devoted friend to all. Ken was the type of person who never judged you. He could always be counted on, being there for you during both good times and bad. He would give you the shirt off of his back and wouldn’t want anything in return other than your friendship.

Ken believed in giving back to his community. He was philanthropically involved with many nonprofit organizations throughout the greater Kansas City area during his lifetime. He enjoyed being with family and friends. He was an avid “Doctor Who” fan. He loved to listen to all types of music, was an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction books/audio books, and enjoyed watching many different types of movies. He loved being with and communicating with people.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, and he is survived by his sister Cheryl, his brother Steve, his nephew Brett, and many close friends and other family members.
