Mary Parnes, 94, of Leawood, Kansas, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 6.

A private graveside service was held on Sunday, Jan. 9, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Congregation Beth Shalom or a charity of one’s choice.

Mary was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on Jan. 20, 1927, to Bertha and Louis Spinoza. She graduated from Westport High School and attended Kansas City Community College. She and her husband Arnold Parnes enjoyed a loving marriage for 52 years until his death in 2007.

Mary worked alongside her husband, brother-in-law and sister-in-law in their family business, Advance Office Equipment and Supply Company, located in Kansas City, Missouri. She and Arnold also provided a warm and loving home for their family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Henrietta Saffran.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judi Parnes; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jeff Sander; her grandchildren, Jenny and Michael Kirschenbaum, Brandon Parnes, Grant Sander and Julia Parnes; and two great-granddaughters, Naomi and Sadie Kirschenbaum.

Mary was a kind, sweet and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all.
