Robert Allen Bretton, 71, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 18, 2021, in Tampa, Florida. Graveside services were Monday, November 22, 2021, at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Robert’s name to The Disabled Vietnam Veterans or The Shul-Chabad of Leawood.
Robert was born on August 26, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Morris and Lillian (Arluck) Bretton. Robert was proud of serving his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He met his wife Shelly Krashin and spent 36 happy years with her.
Robert was a selfless man who looked out for his family, extended family and friends. He always had a kind word for everyone and was very positive, nice and easy going. Robert was one big teddy bear. He was loved by all who knew him. You only had to meet him once and you had a friend for life. He was willing to sacrifice for anyone, especially his children, to make sure they had the best life possible.
Through his selflessness, Robert served as the Gabbai at The Shul-Chabad of Leawood. This was something that he held close to his heart.
Robert was most proud of his four sons. He loved spending time with them and was so proud of all their accomplishments in life. He never missed an opportunity to be there for each one of them, no matter what they were going through. He supported them and gave of himself for them so that they could have all that they needed in life.
Robert was also proud of all four of his grandchildren. He loved to watch them grow and be a part of their lives.
Those left to cherish Robert’s memory include his wife Shelly, sons: Michael (Jamie) Krashin, Michael (Shelby) Bretton, Aaron Bretton, Richard Bretton; grandchildren: Jacob Krashin, Penner Krashin, Jacob Bretton, Addison Bretton; sister, Janice Zane; mother-in-law, Frannie Krashin; several brother- and sister-in laws as well as many nieces and nephews who absolutely adored him.
