Jacqueline Merle Chelist passed away peacefully at her Options Services group home in Olathe, Kansas, on November 7, 2021, her 71st birthday.
At her bedside were her sister, Sandra Chelist and brother-in-law Philip Waters of Evergreen, Colorado; sister-in-law Christine Chelist of Corrales, New Mexico, and nephew Daniel Chelist of Denver, Colorado.
Jackie’s surviving family also includes her niece, Leah Chelist Malone and her husband Kyle; great nephew, Callan Malone; great niece, Solene Malone, and Daniel Chelist’s wife, Hui Li, all of Denver.
Jackie is predeceased by her brother, Edward Chelist of Corrales, New Mexico; parents, Aaron and Frances Chelist of St. Louis, Missouri, and her devoted aunts: Dorothy, Della and Sarah Chelist, also of St. Louis.
She is lovingly survived by her Options staff of Olathe, her friends at her Options retirement group, the staff of ArCare, Inc. of Overland Park, Kansas, and her many friends and staff of Johnson County Developmental Supports.
Jackie was born on November 7, 1950, in St. Louis. She attended Ladue High School in Ladue, Missouri, where she graduated in 1970. Jackie moved to Leawood, Kansas, in 1973. Jackie loved watching her television shows and spending time with her many friends and staff at her workshop and retirement group. Word Search puzzles were one of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed painting and crafting.
Jackie loved food and eating out. She always looked forward to lunches with her dear friend, Janice Godsey. Shopping for new clothes, shoes and jewelry was her passion. Thanksgiving was Jackie’s favorite holiday, when she looked forward to traveling to her brother’s home to celebrate with family and friends in Corrales.
Our beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend will be dearly missed.
