Robert ( Bob ) Raskin peacefully passed away on June 18, leaving a loving family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchild along with many wonderful friends.
Bob was born in San Diego, California, in 1927 to Sam and Rose Raskin, later moving to Sedalia, Missouri. The family then moved to Kansas City, where Bob completed his primary education at Paseo High School, and continued his studies at the University of Missouri. At Mizzou Bob was active in AEPi, where he met the woman that stole his heart, his future wife Lorry Lipman. Within two years the couple left MU to be married on May 9, 1948, beginning their incredible 71-plus year journey.
Bob began his work career with Brown Shoe Company, moving around the Midwest before settling back in Kansas City. He then joined Guardian Life/ The Shale Goodman Insurance Agency. Bob enjoyed a 40-plus year career in the insurance industry then retired to spend more time with Lorry, the family, and, of course, his golf game.
Bob and Lorry were fortunate enough to bring three children into the world: Debby, married to Steve Agron; Marty Raskin; and Ben and wife Donna Raskin. Along the way Debby delighted Bob and Lorry with their first grandchildren, Jason and Lindsay, later adding a great grandchild, Izzy, to Jason and wife Julie.
Bob and Lorry were longtime members of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, where Bob served in the brotherhood and taught Sunday school. His love for golf and his Mizzou Tigers continued throughout his life. Following his passion for golf, he served as a marshall at a number of local courses.
Bob was a wonderful and caring man who spread happiness and good cheer in his travels and is greatly missed by all.
